The 9 Placed art styles, explained — and which rooms they suit

Every artwork Placed generates starts from one of nine styles. Here's what each one actually looks like and the rooms where it tends to work best.

Abstract

Bold colors and dynamic shapes. Abstract art carries energy without depicting anything literal, which makes it the most flexible choice — it works in living rooms, offices, and entryways alike. Pick it when your room needs a focal point.

Minimalist

Clean lines and negative space. Minimalist pieces calm a room down rather than filling it up. Best in bedrooms, modern living rooms, and anywhere the architecture should stay the star.

Geometric

Precise shapes and symmetry. Geometric art reads as structured and deliberate — a natural fit for offices, studies, and modern or industrial interiors.

Botanical

Natural organic forms. Botanical illustration brings the outside in without needing a green thumb. Kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and Scandinavian-style spaces love it.

Landscape

Serene scenes with atmospheric depth. Landscapes visually open up a room, which makes them ideal for smaller spaces and for bedrooms where calm matters most.

Contemporary

Modern artistic expression — the broadest of the nine, sitting between abstract and figurative. A safe pick for living rooms when you want something current but not loud.

Impressionist

Soft brushstrokes and light. Impressionist pieces feel warm and lived-in, suiting traditional interiors, reading corners, and dining rooms.

Watercolor

Flowing colors and transparency. The gentlest style of the set — delicate, airy, and well-suited to bedrooms, nurseries, and bathrooms.

Cyberpunk

The newest style: neon-drenched futuristic cityscapes with an electric palette of magenta, cyan, and acid yellow against deep darkness. It's unapologetically bold — made for gaming setups, home studios, teenage bedrooms, and anyone whose space could use more night-city energy.

Not sure which fits your room?

You don't have to guess. Placed analyzes a photo of your space and recommends the styles that match its colors, lighting, and mood — then you preview the result on your actual wall before printing. Try it with your room.
